Loving this book so far, seems very likely to end up on my favourites shelf. Some interesting parallels could be drawn between this book and Camus' novel The Stranger.

Embarrassingly enough I can relate to some of Yozo's insecurities sans his misogyny.

Although Yozo himself is very misogynistic this seems an extension of his general misanthropy and the book portrays him as a particularly loathsome figure.

Embarrassingly enough I can relate to many of Yozo's insecurities, making the book something of a cosy and affirming read.

halfway through part 6 and I have no clue how it's going to end, riveting stuff! after completing my most recent chapter I now wholeheartedly hope that svidrigailov will die horribly, he seems a very bad sort

not the biggest fan so far. I may warm to it with time, but this will be a very slow read over the foreseeable future

went into this book with no knowledge of its contents and completely misunderstood what it would be about. I'd read the title as "from THE underground" and presumed it was a revolutionary tale of some sort. despite this misunderstanding it's a funny book and i'm enjoying it so far :)

just finished the first part of the novella. really enjoying it so far. the prose in the final chapter of part 1 was extraordinary

"Beneath a veil of brine and tears my eyes were blinded; I was conscious only of the cymbals of the sun clashing on my skull, and, less distinctly, of the keen blade of light flashing up from the knife, scarring my eyelashes, and gouging into my eyeballs."
