I read from 1500’s up through the end of WWI, bc that was the period I was interested in. Filled with too many niche side stories of individual actors, whose names I’ll never be able to remember, and which are unnecessary in the telling of the broader history. Still, does a good job conveying the power dynamics of the empire and peripheral states/territories, and imperial Europe’s entry.
