Holy moley, this is a five-star read and no mistake, despite (or perhaps thanks to) breaking lots of modern writing "rules" about head-hopping and massive info-dumps.

Really enjoying this classic Gothic tale, especially in this gorgeous edition with the period-style illustrations and the creepy death-figure in gold blocking on the cover. As someone who grew up only knowing the name Silas from Baron Greenback in Dangermouse, however, there's a bit of a barrier to me taking the titular character entirely seriously as a villain.

Like the steam-train depicted on the cover, this takes a while to get up speed, but is intricate and interesting. Tempting hints so far of what's to come make me hope it's going to wander into some of the same territory as Peter Higgins' Wolfhound Century, but from a very different angle.

Lent to me by a friend as "Howard Carter + Lilith", a combination that got my book-saliva glands working on overdrive. So far, fulfills the promise of its premise, though the Goodreads overall rating makes me wonder if this will last.

My fourth reading of this wonderful book. Gets better each time.

Not sure this level of intrigue is good for my health

Liking the varied characters, and the amount of tech jargon seems pitched right at my level.

Well up to usual standard so far. Only crime series I'm addicted to.
