I take my hat off to Dr. George Blair-West. Did he make mistakes in his early treatment of Jeni? Yes, he did. Did he throw his hands in the air and give up? No, he didn't. Through trial and error he, along with Jeni and all her executive alters, devised processes that helped the healing process. It was a learning curve for all of them, helped by Jeni's own studies and investigations into DID.

I do not class myself as a violent person however, having said that, if Jeni's father were standing before me, I would gladly flay him alive!
The English detectives, solicitors and judge who dismissed her accusations so readily and viciously, choosing to believe her father, are also deserving of severe criticism. This was another lost opportunity for Jeni to finally get some justice.

This book was recommended to me by a friend. It is one of the hardest books I have ever read. What some humans do to those in their care; those who rely on them solely for comfort, succour, protection and their very life; never ceases to horrify me.
We call bears, lions, tigers etc Animals, but they don't rape, sodomise or beat their young into submission. They don't maim or kill for sport, or just for the fun of it.

I'm only onto Chapter 7 and it is already so heartbreaking. How can people change so much overnight? Friends one moment, enemies the next. The conditions they were forced to live under, the work they were forced to do. I'm surprised they didn't all die from starvation. As to Edith's boyfriend, she deserved so much better.
