Also Phryne is an absolutely despicable character.

The writing is really deteriorating and there are so many more typos and grammatical mistakes than I would have expected.

In section 3, “The Rough Theatre”, the word “rape” is used too liberally for comfort.

While this is very easily read, the writing is often clumsy, which I wouldn’t have expected from such a mainstream / experienced author

Two brilliant things stood out so far in this book:
The referencing ability of the author, pulling from Ancient and Classical literary sources and shrewdly interpreting the occurrences;
The economic analyses of financial and social systems through onion consumption, culture, and distribution.
