Reading. The first parts of the book were so good. Part 3 seemed to veer a little and not be quite so believable.

This is the craziest, saddest book ever! It’s like a car wreck you can’t look way from. But, I can’t leave Fransisco Day behind! She’s a spoiled and beautiful socialite in London, loses her mother and inherits a mountain of debt, she comes to America on the promise of a full career only to find it’s not what she’s been promised. She takes off and runs into Daly the biggest hottest jerk ever!

Read. Great writing. A style that I like. A very entwining story. Megs mother leaves her, she’s in an orphanage and is mistreated, is adopted by a family with a nice father but lots of drama.
Francis and Birdie are sisters from a poor family. Frances marries rich, Birdie goes to ask for money. Her husband family is losing everything. They try to find ways to make money and a whole lot of shenanigans ensue.

Reading. This is a slow burn. But at halfway through I’m totally invested in the main characters. Matt’s writing can be so beautiful. “I was lucky I knew her well. And, the way I see it if you know someone well you know how they would think about things. You can talk to them forever because you know what they would say.”

Audio. Wow. A modern woman, influencer, sarcastically angry (this is where the naughty bits are), I can tell by the way she speaks that she grew up as a Christian (wonderful). The story goes backwards into her life from where the book started. And then, she is also in a very different story line. At this point I have no idea where this story is going. with very clever writing and the narrator is spot on!

Audio. Whoa. What a crazy story! Married for 50 years a husband does unspeakable things to his wife. I’ve sat on a lengthy jury so I know to what depths they tear apart everything. Must have been torture for this woman and her children. It’s a very very tough listen. The author narrates which is amazing. Horrible story.
