While I'm thoroughly impressed with the historical details in this book, there are a few glaringly annoying issues I am struggling with:
- Insta-love. UGH. Why.
- POV errors, e.g. how can Diana possibly know exactly which of her many enticing scents Matthew is picking up at that moment?
- So much angry Matthew is irresistible?

I will keep reading because the plot idea is still captivating. Stay tuned...

DNF at 44%

I am consistently impressed by this book and the series as a whole. The writing is tight and the storytelling is intricately fantastic. Just wow.

This is becoming a bit too predictable, not withstanding the whole Cinderella theme. Undoubtedly a unique spin on the timeless fairy tale. I just don't enjoy predictability. I fear this may become a DNF if something drastic does not happen soon...

Was initially on the fence about even reading this one; not really interested in Lucien's story. But once I started, Hunter's incredibly talented writing just kept me hooked. Still don't care much for the romance between Lucien and Makeda, but the complex research on the Elixir origins sold me. I guess it is the scientist in me that just wouldn't let it go.
