2025 reread

Got this as an Amazon first reads freebie and I’m loving it, it’s reminding me of This Man but thankfully (so far, anyway) without the bdsm. I’ve read a few books from JEM since This Man and none have quite done it for me so I’m hoping this marks a return to form 😊😍

Only reading this because it’s a MZ, hope it’s better than it sounds…

My teeth are on edge: Scottish character in Scotland using Scottish dialect and, uh American phrases. Note to US authors, we brits write ‘to’ someone, we don’t just write someone like the Americans do. There’s a whole exchange about letter writing using the American phrasing and it’s driving me mad.
That’s all, continue.

I wish books that have a conflict borne from media intrusion were given their own sub genre so I could could successfully avoid them. I loathe stories where the couple is speaking to one another through press conferences and having nauseating pdas in n front of rows of journalists. This book was so promising but it’s just been completely ruined for me.

This is off - they’re both brits, he’s from Yorkshire yet these two speak using Americanisms that really jar. Irritating.

There’s this whole seduction scene going on, silver fox and younger woman. I can’t lie, his moves feel sleazy. Must be my age.

This book has taken a turn into batshit territory. Not sure I can finish this, I was here for romance not this.

Attempting this is the very definition of optimism. The rock chick books are up there among my favourite ever series and I reread them regularly to be in my happy place. Please be ok.

I’ve read this lots of times but this is my first time listening to the audiobook. Nina has the worse accent I’ve ever heard. It baffles me that this book was recorded and produced apparently without anyone pointing out the narrator couldn’t do an authentic English accent. I think it’s supposed to be posh English but the pronunciation is all wrong and so jarring.

Hope this is a return to form, the last few KAs have been dnfs or just baaad.

The fmc in this is unreasonable and ridiculous, I want better for the main mmc than her. Not sure I’ll finish this which is a first for me with this author.

This is hard work. She’s been falsely accused of a crime, but I’m yet to discover why she’s been blamed or who the victim is. Quite irritating actually, give me something to work with ffs.

Not sure I can stick this one. The plot is too ridiculous to be believable- a press conference and insta fame for a newly signed make up model? Journalists asking her about her parent’s suicide in a press conference? Just, no. Tbh I only picked this up because usually I enjoy Suzanne Wright and it was included in my audible membership but it’s testing both my patience and credulity.

Now entering my second week reading this book. I’m beginning to fear I’ll be reading this forever

I dropped my current reads to dive right in and, well. So…sci fi? I um wasn’t expecting that... #awkward

I’m enjoying this but troubled . How is it even remotely possible to organise a week-long wedding event for 48 guests with less than three months notice? Accommodation, meals, activities, transport…it was all there. Not even a little possible 🙄

It’s midnight, it’s a school night and I can’t put this down 🥴

I’m reading this because my book club has chosen it. I’ve never fancied a book less. We shall see…

This is slow, so unlike a normal CLo. It’s lacking in banter and has zero feels so far. Things can only get better, usually this author is guaranteed for banter and feels 😬

So, unusually for a CLo this is written in third person. I often struggle with third person narrative, I just don’t connect with the characters like I do when a story is narrated in first person so I really hope this is going to be ok 😬

I’m finding this painfully slow 🥲
