enjoying the coming of age/growing up Andy is going through after she tells her secret(s), and her realization of how purity culture affected her Portland lesbian community. and enjoying yhe complications between her and Ryan. not sure i especially like this book, but it's still solid, and the nostalgia is hitting big.

only just now read the market copy for this and feeling iffy about where things will go, but the story and writing are fine so i'll see how it turns out.

there are still 2 hours left in this audiobook and it appears the suffering is neverending (in a good way). some authors would have ended things at one of the many possible drop off points up to here, but Stephen Graham Jones is a master, improving and deepening the horror and emotional torture to his characters. this is incredible 😍

big catharsis for me after the Atthur campfire scene. this is some powerful social horror

at 30% in, I started reading at 1.5 speed. theres have been a few funny lines, but this isn't for me so far.

I do not like secondhand embarrassment and seeing people make questionable choices to climb ladders.

I love how dramatic the uncle and the nosy guest are when the guest accompanies Mrs. Clark to tea at the Blackwood's. that scene had me chuckling, especially "my sister-in-law was, madam, a delicate woman. you will have noticed her portrait in yhe drawing room and the equisite line of the jaw bone under the skin. a woman born for tragedy, perhaps." 😆
delightful so far. love the vibes.

the voice effect for the hive is so good, and i'm enjoying the gore descriptions already

relentlessly tragic and sad. taking a break bc i need something with adrenaline and propulsion or something hopeful, not a tragedy with known doom and flashbacks to the impending/starting doom. terrible timing for the beginning of the dark depresso season

the writing isn't impressing me so far, but my heart was warmed by the scene in the El Dorado where we witness tge story behind the photo of Bertie with Gert ans Gert's passport

enjoying the supernatural elements, excited to see how far this gets developed. Nat Cassidy, i'm putting my trust in you

haven't been this gripped by the opening few chapters of a book in a long time. excellent start to the reading experience, very excited to continue!

I am very interested but also should have realized there are spoilers for several horror films i still want to see. pausing so I can catch up on films and the. enjoy the book

not hiring John Lee to continue the series was a mistake. I think i liked his performance much more...

still a delight. I love the satire very much

the library scene had me bursting into laughter. what a treasure that was!

Other Fish's main draw was the giant sexy lady Yemanjá. the writing was a bit better than Bastian and the Beast, but i'm still waiting for these stories to make me feel. i really don't like teen books, they're too young for me

Bastian and the Beast- the beast wants the youngest son, and in exchange gives the family multiple chests of gold? after this and the "everything-will-be-okay, these-monsters-are-good" collection intro, i'm getting sold to one direction vibes 😆

Cary Groner doesn't know menstruaters if he thinks that 15 years into post-apocalypse, tampons would appeal to them and would be "worth their weight in gold" for their intended purpose. people get used to cloth pads and sew on waterproof sides if they cared so much about blood leaks. jfc
