I've almost finished so I'm trying to stick it out, but it is dragging painfully. How can a sequel be so inferior to its origin? This prose is so convoluted and repetitive. I am anguished.

Started off relatively strong, but feeling like more of a chore. Some tangents that serve to showcase the author's wit (which is decent, if a little inconsistent, and a bit indulgent) definitely challenge my reading endurance... Will finish but only because I usually resist the urge to DNF once past the 50% mark.

Thinking I may not finish this. Nice prose, some clever concepts, and it comes from a place of compassion for "offenders", but it read a little too much like a philosophy book. Sophie's choice type-thing.
I'd rather not push too much to finish something that doesn't reward the reader's efforts.
