I would enjoy this book a lot more if they weren't near constantly body shaming George. Not really something I feel comfortable recommending to middle grade readers. I'm glad this trend has waned in contemporary juvenile fiction.

i wish the alternating audio narration wasn't as different in volume. the "past" narrator is too quiet, making the other audio jarring when the volume is up loud enough to hear the quiet voice :(

main character is so whiny, snarky, and so repetitive. i know that this guy isnt supposed to be an intellectual but the writing isnt compelling. i suppose it’s trying to really drill in his body-obsessed transformation but thats hard to listen to for hours. maybe speed reading the book wouldve made this an easier read.

oh man audiobooks featuring tween girl protagonists tend to be pretty whiny and grating. i wonder if id like this more as a book.

ughhh. i really want to quit this audiobook. i'm so annoyed by the characters and their unconvincing drama. all of them seem like theyre just trying to start fights and they change moods every three seconds. it's so uneven. and jumping around in time doesn't help. i literally groaned the first time we skipped back, frustrated that i'd have to sit through this again. just hot and cold, hot and cold, life and death.

why is this book so repetitive? it would be so much better if cut in half. is it even worth finishing?
