Well, certainly wasn't expecting an analysis of the Tron films right in the middle of my lightweight post-apocalyptic comedy novel...

Only a few chapters in, and I'm already prepared to recommend "Mr. Prenumbra's" to anyone that's read more than three books this year.

I like alternate history, I like the author, I even like the premise (in theory), but I'm having a hard time getting into it. Little details like a Muslim version of "The Governator" are throwing me off, not drawing me in.

Vaguely feels like he's trying just a little too hard to be Adams - to be fair, not sure how much of that feeling is because I know he isn't. Might be different in a blind taste-test? Fun bits though, got a giggle from Cthulu's job interview.

Made it about halfway through, and it isn't so bad that I'm not going to finish. But the combination of endless Wicca threads with the SCA slashfic (when the world ends, we wacky recreational medievalists will finally be on top!) is making me doubt I'll actually continue the series.

This arrived while I was out of town, picked it up yesterday. Perhaps a bit awkward to read on the commute (advantage: e-books), so this one might take a little while to finish. Looks like fun bedtime story material, though... >;-)

Huh. First time I've seen a character specifically called out (twice now, within a few pages) as carrying/using an iPhone.
