- I think its getting less about their relationship which like mama I'm very displeased of loll
- I like getting to know all the important black voices during the Harlem renaissance and how they moved African Americans in all ages

-I like Du Bois little fact about alcohol and enslaved men and their owners

- I really don't like their affair, it reminds me of every man that has ever gaslighted me to feeling bad about them when they got caught and they say sweet words to me EWWWWW
- I find it crazy tho that slavery was only abolished 160 years ago that disgusting!
- men of color got the right to vote 25 years after they were supposed to be allowed to vote
-MR. Du Bois just has so many mistresses

- I was contemplating between this book or Junie for black history month book to read but this was closer to my house
- Junie does have a better beginning more inciting in the first 2 chapters
- But this one is getting juicer by the 4th chapter and her marriage scandal with W.E.B Du Bois
- She grew up with a loving and very structured family that supports her so that's making me cry a little RN: 5/10 bc I need more

- It is such a slow start before a 100 pgs but its picking up
- Chaol I like you but please stop calling the dumbest shots like calling out aelin
- right now its the least favorite out of the books maybe alongside with crown of midnight

- part 2 is good but it does wrap her life and her restart but I wish they just kept it at her time in the war
- It's not flat tho I just don't care for the random characters like Henry which is becoming her husband
- Just bc of part 2, now sounding like a regular story w/ unwanted marriage so she can fulfill her loneliness it makes the book a 4.7 rn
-This book is taking me long bc I was in a reading slump

- I feel so bad for women who are like Frankie trying to get back on track after having war PTSD and no one acknowledging even the departments that claimed a source of help for veterans
-Her girlfriends thoo, Wow the womanhood I can only imagine
- I loveee this book its makes me cry bc it's emotional and I love that

- I understand her frustration with her parents bc she felt neglected when she spent the last 2 years traumatized and they haven't gotten her proper care.
- And I want to say I understand her parents a little bit bc they are also still grieving their son but the lack of empathy on her journey in Vietnam and making it small is something I don't get.

-Rye and her finally made love but i forget this isn't a romance novel so their love isn't centered but I just don't like hearing how much sex they have
- Not really an update but He did tell her he'll love her til he dies, wrong choice of words
-I feel like I'm always preparing for a heartbreak in all the people she meets this book is so sad but so real

- I keep not wanting to read, I think that's why its taking me so long but whenever I actually read I love the story plot soo much
- Not a crazy update but alot of deaths that keep making me cry it is so fast paced like you maybe expect it but when it happens its still so sad
- Idk ab the president LBJ but its giving he wasn't liked and it reminds me of US currently

-I probably need to search up what fast-paced really means but to me rn this is pretty fast-paced, nothing in the story is flat which is really surprising bc the beginning of a book usually tries to get alot of details in which can be boring but its almost as if I'm walking her experience and all the grieve and trauma and shock she's experiencing

-I get this is the last book but it has so many plots, first her and sam in Skull's bay freeing salves to Yrene in White Pigs INN to the Red Desert and Anselll
-Sighh now Ik why she was so hesitant to actually trust Nehemiah
-What Ansel did wasn't a plot twist bc I get that but the faking of the friendship is crazyyy
-When the mute master said "we don't abuse our assassins" :((( and that she'd have a home there

- didn't even realize how much the story plot changed since 17% the plot is really slow right now
-doesn't really give info about the characters and why they act the way that they do but Ik when its revealed it's gonna be good
- I reall like Yrene's story I hope we meet her again in the series, which I think we will bc she's mentioned in the last book
-CH.5 of Assassin & the Desert is alot of memories fromCrownofM

- almost 100 pgs in it has not slowed
-the pacing is so good
-overall im bouta give the book already 4 stars

- the more you progress in this book, it gets more politically "heavy" but I personally like it bc it is educating me on facts and history
- there are so many aspects of this book that I relate so much too like him pushing away close ppl in his life and the death of his friend
- I like how much support he has from ppl he met along the way

- In part 2 ch.3, he says "I couldn't talk to my own mother while I was collecting mother figures" ahhhh
- He talks about how we are all immigrants in master narrative made to be take control and power

- wait I lovee this book it embodies what it is like and the thoughts of a filipino immigrant child coming to a new country that had so much to be learned
-I relate to is childhood experiences because I had the exact same thought growing up. "I'm asian??" "Am I black or white? Where do I fit in there?" His family in America supporting his family in PH tho they barely had any money

- I just want to DNF this so baddd but I'm almost done. I keep looking at reviews on this book bc I swear I wasn't just into reading but they all say the book is flat.
-The fantasy aspect doesn't make sense in how she got powers or where they were from and would randomly pop up
- I wish it was a little more historical accurate especially bc she wasn't siding with Cortes anymore like she didn't have a child with him

I'm about half way thru the book is picking up again.
- I get she had a crush on Palak Balam but why he is just eating her out off the bat
-and then all of the sudden him and her sisterrr Hummingbird dies (supposedly) bc they weren't trafficked & sold with her
-her mother has a new family, gets trafficked, then sleeps with her captor for her 16th birthday (this poor girl's childhood)

- finished ch6 wait is the high priestess also a bird from the underworld?
- is the place already infiltrated and they don't know because she is highly respected
-that's usually what happens tho the higher ups are usually suspicious

- Ch.3 NOO her twin brother ANDD her father died pleaseee the book is just starting
- it is a lot of new information and some history I knew about aztec from middle school history class
- I believe this is also fantasy but I don't remember what this was about except slavery so I didn't expect that but the book is good so far.

- I just read up on Aelin's heritage, spoiler free, both her and Dorian have divine power from their very great-grandmother and their great-grandmother also being Elena bc they are distant cousins
-From Brannon which is Elena's father, they are also part Fae from him being 1/2 fae
-Aelin is more fae bc of her great-grandmother Mab, fae warrior and her mother was Wendylin's queen? Evalin

- I wish I didn't accidentally heard that she was Aelin was Celaena but I didn't know her family linage so I guess that was fun to heard that that she was an actual throne to Terrasen

- So Celaena knows what she is -- a Fae, but she doesn't know the lineage of her family?? maybe they erased her memories, I mean she was 8 years old.
- I think the information Nehemia knew about Celaena was about her family lineage Okay now I don't really care for Dorian and Celaena bc her and Chaol have better chemistry. But I feel like they're fated
- I almost fainted bc I thought they were gonna kill off the dog

- Whole time I thought she was noble blood and they knew that but they couldn't have because why would they take her to a rebel place like endovier and they never Called her princess
- but maybeee the King and Arobynn knew she was of noble blood but wanted to kill that hidden so Terassens wouldn't come to get her

- they kill Nehemiaaaa ahhh I was crying last night and I kept telling myself it was just a book
-But losing a friend and one where you got in a argument and that was the last words you said to them awww
- why did the have to kill her so soon, I wish they killed her at least 3 books in bc Ik it was coming. They always kill the most kind-hearted people.

- wait what if he dies what if they kill him because she was saying she waited for Sam but it was too late. What if they are foreshadowing
-Ima cryyyy, tho I think I like Dorian and Celaena better (Idk why ig bc they already built something but she broke it off bc of self sabotage), Celaena really likes Chaol, I think more than Dorian sighhh

- Chapter 23 whattt they had sexxx. Like I was expecting it just because they were getting close but I just keep wishing it is Doriannn
