Honestly, I’m struggling with this a bit. I like the concept and the characters are good, but there’s a LOT of extraneous detail and I’m not a big fan of the way the multiple timelines are being managed. That said, I do want to know what happens, so I’ll continue on with it, but I’m struggling not to just spoil it for myself to see if it’s worth the time. Joanne Froggatt is a marvellous narrator, though!

Gosh am I struggling with this. Both of the lead characters are insufferable, and none of their actions feel the least bit reasonable or even comprehensible at times. I like the setting, and I remember really enjoying the second book in this series, which I read out of order some 3 years ago, but the characterization of the main players in this book is very off putting. Not ready to give up, but…it’s close!

Oof. I’m big time stalled on this. I forgot how much pretentious exposition you have to slog through in the middle. We get it! You’re tortured! Life is pain; death is pain; what’s the point? Yeah yeah. Now can someone DO something? I’ll get back to it eventually, but it’s been a relief to just read a bunch of fluff in the meantime

Good grief is this ever a slog. The narrative pov is absurdly repetitive and obnoxiously negative. Trying to decide if I want to punish myself by continuing… I probably will, but it’s very tempting to drop this in favour of something more up my alley

Wellllll, I took too long of a break, tried to pick this up again the other day, and had no idea what was going on, lol, so I’m starting over again!

Really enjoying this, so far, despite it being a little confusing. The prose is lovely, and the concept is so inventive and unique. That said, I’m putting it on hold briefly because another highly anticipated book on my list was just released (Husband Material) so I’m going to reread the first in that series and then that one (I’m at the cottage, fluff needs to happen!), but I’m excited to get back to this!

Okay, so yeah, I got past the lacklustre opening, and the rest has been great, so far. I’m still not a huge fan of multiple POVs, but it’s lots of fun regardless

Good grief, there is a staggering amount of expository excess in the first few pages of this story. This does not bode well for the remainder, but I hope to be proven wrong.

Thieves and bards, hunters and healers, wizards and necromancers, centaurs and dragons, shape shifting and elves, political intrigue and adventures aplenty. I am loving this story!

Well this is violent and grim! And Two-Face is actually genuinely scary and nasty and not comical. Intriguing! Still not a fan of JR2’s art, but it seems to work, here, better than usual.

Backup story with Duke is creepy and weird, and I hope it’ll end up giving him some more depth in his own right. I’m not a big sidekick fan, in general, but he seems okay so far.

Three issues into this book, and I feel like I barely have a clue what the fuck is going on. So many time jumps. So many characters who resemble each other. So many references to things I don’t understand. Also, it feels like it’s trying hard to be *super* edgy. Like, take it easy, champ.

Good golly am I having a tough time getting through this. Maybe because I don’t know much about the Corps or Sinestro, but they sure didn’t make it an easy place to start with them. I feel lost but also like I don’t really care... The art’s great though.

Hmfh why do people write this character so boring?! I have another 2 issues of this title in my reading list after this one and I’m SO tempted to skip them. It’s boring, and there’s a villain called MALWARE! WHY?!

Finished the first arc, and now I break for a bunch of other stuff including Night of the Monster Men before coming back to continue with the Raptor storyline. Tbh, I don’t care much. Was hoping Nightwing would grab me more than this, but it’s just kinda blah.

Of course I update my reading challenge to a great big number and immediately take a break to go read unpublished fiction for two days. Whatever;
it was worth it! Fan authors are gold!! But, after seeing Infinity War last night (great film!) and receiving my OMG SO BEAUTIFUL Jason Fabok Action Comics #1000 variants, I’m feeling it’s high time to dive back into my comics list. Nightwing ahoy!

Finally onto something that mentions “Rebirth” on the cover! Wahey!! Although, I’m not wicked optimistic about this volume, as neither a fan of Lois (well, most of the time) nor of superhero parenting, but I’m going in with an open mind! Make me like you!!

Yeah, so I’m following this reading order for Rebirth that I found on Reddit (bless you, Internet people!) and it goes back and forth between issues in this trade and the previous one. Slightly tough to facilitate, but I can do it!

Regardless, it’s a good story, so far, and it gives me a big warm fuzzy to be back in Metropolis again. I’m not a huge fan of the art, but...meh.

Also, it’s bizarre to be reading about this new character who kinda resembles my high school boyfriend and has the same name as him, lol

Well, after like 10 years away from the mainstream comics scene, for some reason I’m feeling overwhelmingly compelled to get back to the DC stable, but damn has it been hard to figure out where to start. Someone recommended this volume as a jumping on point for Rebirth, so I’m hoping it’ll do the trick.
