So far, so good. I read "The Intoxicated" and "The Daemon Lover" and enjoyed them both very much. I've been meaning to read some Shirley Jackson for years now and I'm happy to finally get on with it

The opening devoted to the authors' shared critical stance towards capital-S Science as industry and gatekeeper of a capital-T Truth were a bit brusque. Not wrong, certainly relevant, but requiring of greater elaboration than an opening chapter. That being said, the meat of the book is well-written and engaging. I'm particularly enjoying these chapters on the history of IQ tests. So far, I'm glad I grabbed this book.

Angel is starting The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Vol. 1: Squirrel Power
Twitter is starting to burn me out. I've had about as much fun as I possibly can from android games. So I needed some light reading when I'm relaxing at home and as I do have a solid pile of comic trades sitting on my bookshelf, I figured now was as good a time as any to get back into the "scene", especially with FCBD coming up.

I'm a big fan of Ryan North and I'm enjoying Erica Henderson's art. It's nice.

The bulk of my scant knowledge on this subject comes from gen ed courses I took a decade ago (neuropsychology, evolution & ecology, etc.) and what I was able to pick up from the science blogs I used to subscribe to on Google Reader way back when. So I'm hoping this book is written with the general public in mind. The preface shows promise on that front, but who knows? This could be a drag. See you on the other side.

I'm on the home stretch, but I wanted to congratulate this book and its author on successfully making the monadology somewhat comprehensible to me, a feat I no longer believed possible. At gunpoint, I half-heartedly believe I could describe and explain the monadology. So basically I'm an entirely new person thanks to this book. Wow
