So far it’s quite enjoyable. The only things really irking me are the character of Simon (super cliched - I mean, a gay man who runs an antique- filled B and B) and the related descriptions of antiques etc.

I have had to stop reading this book because I am finding the HH Holmes sections just too disturbing. Probably not the best choice for hospital reading. The gruesome descriptions and the prevalent sense of evil does not mix well with pain meds.

Not my cup of tea......

This book does need editing.

The character of Richard quite unbelievable. He is apparently 10 (or 11) but the description of his behaviour is more like that of a 6 year old. Why are the boys home schooled? Why is the family so socially isolated when it seems they live within walking distance of the village.

So far, the book has no explanation for any of this. I don't think I will make it to the end.....

Enjoying this, although I am continually reminded of The Mosquito Coast by Paul Theroux and The Fortunes of Richard Mahoney.
