This is a perfect read for me during the holiday season. Full of Southern lingo. traditions, etc. I'm a native of Atlanta (that qualifies as a southerner) yet my meals growing up were more Mediterranean than southern. We never had sweet tea. nor did my mom fry anything. Green beans were made with tomato sauce not southern seasonings. As an adult, I've grown to appreciate both! I'm making up for lost time!

I won this book in a giveaway contest. Even though I'm squeamish when it comes to medicine, I have so much respect for those in the field. I'm "squeamish" yet fascinated at the same time. I'm excited to read her story.

This is a great book. I knew of the one child law, but I had no idea what all it entailed. It is amazing that she was found! Governments taking advantage of the poor and illiterate. My heart breaks for these families that were forced to give up their child (and given up their child by force too). I wait to finish it...they are in contact !

It is a very interesting book. it is difficult to imagine a mother serving the best portions of food or brand new clothing for only their sons. Girls do not get preferred treatment, food, celebrations, education, etc...like the boys.. Her father set out to change this thought process after experiences from his own childhood.

I think that as a whole, fiction writers use more flowery language in their stories. I find that it can be a bit redundant to remind the reader of a person's personality multiple times . Aside from that, it is a good plot. I usually do not read fiction for this reason

The book was due! I will finish it another time. It is through the perspective of a child who lived it. One gets a better understanding of the Japanese mindset and traditions that can differ vastly from ours. I also have met, and have a book by the navigator of the Enola Gay...He was the most kind man who had a job to do. No matter time or place of war, innocent lives will be lost. It continues to this day.

These people put their lives on the line every day. It is heartbreaking to read about the deaths of those trying to protect our country. I find it interesting that some presidents don't heed the advice of the head of the CIA.

I read probably 90% non fiction books. I promised my book club friends that I would read a Christmas, fiction book. Here goes...(we don't read the same book as a group. We come together and discuss whatever book each person chooses..it works great!).

this would be a good book for bookclubs. At the end of each chapter are questions asked of the reader such as " what kind of legacy are you creating in your own life?" "Could you make a list of the core principals that guide you?" There are probably 4 or 5 questions after each chapter. I'm not far into the book yet, but I feel that I am right in the story. I like his style of writing

this should be fun! Being brought up in a Greek household...elbows, hands, all talking at once, guitars (yes guitars) and singing were all at the table! Let's not forget interrupting others. You might not ever get heard otherwise. I do insist children say please and thank you. That is something you carry for life. It only takes seconds to say but carries a ton of weight in meaning.

it's a slow read. It hasn't grabbed my attention. Lady going through divorce, back with her mom. I don't read many romance books so not sure if it is in this genre. I'm no quitter (trying to not be any way).

My heart truly breaks with what she endured as a child. Prostitution at a very young age, runaway, no stable family, etc Reading up to this page, i was so upset and angry at all who took advantage of her. I thought about quitting the book. I read pages with tears welling in my eyes, Knowing she survived and thrived makes me have hope for any child caught in sex trafficking, prostitution, etc. Miracles happened.

This book tells you how to listen for key words. The words we choose tell a bigger story. So far it's very interesting. It would be very useful in any field of employment. Enjoying it so far.

Addiction at its worst. I had no idea of the magnitude. He spent millions in & out of rehab. Can you imagine rehab in Switz then hiring a $175,000 private jet to go home. Next day, doc in U.S. won't give you the same drug amount 1,800 mg (yes, that amount)oxy every day as in Switzerland, so you pay $175,000 to go back that very night! I can't imagine that kind of wealth yet years & years to become sober.

I can't imagine a childhood like this. Driving a land Rover at 8! So far it's very interesting. Trust in family, instincts, etc. Your life could depend on listening and doing exactly what your parent said while tracking animals They ate what they hunted. A few of the snake paragraphs gave me the heebeegeebies as did one of the flying stories. It's a life i could not even imagine.
