Ok I take back what I said about the third act being boring because now it's picking up and I do enjoy what's happening

so, the first 60% of this book, with all the clue-finding and riddle-solving was great. it felt mysterious, dramatic, suspenseful. and then the riddles end and now I'm on the final act and Shara is "found" and loose ends are in the process of being tied up, and I can't help but feel anger and frustration at Chloe, like her actions annoy me. and I'm getting pissed.

ohh so is tosya's novel something like the communist manifesto? seeing that the world is sort of like russia, and the shenglin is seemingly china, im getting the hint that we are getting political and hitting some pretty accurate historical marks.

opening the story with a mass murder is a great hook. cause and effect writing the death of the auraseers, causing sonya to be taken to the palace is morbid but pretty good.
hmm, wondering who this Tosya this and if he will make an appearance. as well as the possible real brother of sonya.

pretty good so far, bit of a slow start though. theory so far: creedmore son definitely has something to do with the disappearance, maybe creedmore dad is trying to protect his involvement from laniar’s murder?accident? and then laniar’s husband pushed her off a cliff or something.
Trae is annoying.
