OOo, calling back to Book 1 I see. The cops found the skeleton in the grain silo.

Poirot steals the show. The eccentric detective and the amazed bystander friend duo a la Holmes and Watson is unbeatable.

I like how smug and smarmy the narrator is when he's talking about Poirot's theories. Hastings thinks he's Sherlock and Poirot is Watson, when really it's the other way around -- except Watson never made the mistake of considering himself smarter than Holmes.

The courtroom scenes in part 2 are awesome, omg

"Isn't that what all Christians want? To open the tomb and find it empty?".... After all that, the coffin was empty all along and the priests were filling it with oil themselves so they could keep scamming people. Holy shit, what an utter condemnation of the catholic church and their history of polytheistic saint worship.

This is really dragging. At least two of the random encounters could've been cut. The one with the little girl version of Aurora was my least favorite. Definitely wasn't necessary.

I keep going back and forth on whether I like this or not. There's a lot of flaws and stupid shit that is pulling me out of the story, and then there'll be a scene like the doppleganger Phillips, and I get sucked back in.

Maryse Conde definitely did her research. I recognize all these details about the Parris's after slogging through Schiff's 'The Witches'. At least that miserable book was good for something.
