Jeni is on page 10 of Book of Common Worship Daily Prayer
This is a great resource for daily prayer. Not just the printed prayers or scripture readings, but it’s a good jumping off place with the list of things that they’re praying for or grateful for. It helps me to remember people who I might forget as I pray each day.

I'm really enjoying this for daily reading/prayer. I wasn't raised with liturgy, so the prayers and readings are new to me. I especially like the daily (day-of-the-week) morning prayers, that help me to focus my prayers of gratitude on blessings both big and small, near and far. The intercession part does the same thing for prayer requests, reminding me to pray for those outside the circle of family and friends.

This will be an on-going read for a long time, so I'm marking it finished even though I'm only part-way thru the first volume. But it is interesting and a bit like eavesdropping on Lewis' private life and childhood.

Really liking it, but I always hate when I catch up to the author's lastest release in a series.

Really good. Leading me to other great books, with in depth descriptions that really let me know why other authors thought it was so great. It also gives me enough information to judge whether the content and style are what I enjoy or not.

Jeni is on page 29 of 240 of 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess
Engaging and fun. Which shows the author's skill, since this is a book about reduction and "fasting" in various areas of life. I can see why my friends who are Jen Hatmaker fans enjoy her books and blog, and even conferences.

Finally getting around to this series. And so far, it's been worth the wait. I can tell I am going to enjoy this author. Interesting characters and the lead detective is a little quirky, clever and very likable. Being set in a small French Canadian town, I was a little concerned that too much of the dialog or phrases would be in French, but the author uses a light touch and everything is very understandable.

This is one of those books where I feel like I've discovered a new author's voice, and it gives me the impression of meeting someone and knowing you're going to be good friends. Mark Buchanan uses metaphor and analogy to explore what it is we're looking for, what we were created to be, and how the answer is so simple and yet so complex. I am enjoying this very much, and will look forward to reading his other books.

I am finally starting to really enjoy this book. The first section was a bit of slow-going (as you see, I started it in early December and just recently picked it up again). But section 2 is finally getting to the stuff I bought the book to read about!

Really enjoying this passage-by-passage look at the gospel of Luke. Christmas season is a good time to start it, too! Not an in-depth intellectual dissection of the original Greek, but rather, as the title suggests, a breaking down and explaining that is suitable for everyone.

Jeni is reading The Snark Handbook: A Reference Guide to Verbal Sparring (Snark Series)
I have only read the preface so far, but if that can make me laugh, I think I'm on the right track. Snark being defined as "a behavior that is a wonderfully witty combination of sarcasm and cynicism," it looks like this is right down my alley.

I'm a little over half-way thru, and so far I think I like this one better than the first. Still the same fast-paced narrative, but with more at stake.

Very thought-provoking and well researched. I love it when a book makes me think, and I am invited (or forced) to reexamine my views on a subject.
