why read one book at a time when you can alternate between 10?

the slowest going for the shortest book. if it wasn’t for uni i would have subtly unadded it

i’m reading way too many books at once. like way too many.

this is the first ilona andrews book where it feels like ilona and gordon worked on their separate chapters entirely solo, and only combined brains when absolutely necessary. nowhere near the narrative heights of hidden legacy, and nowhere near the prose heights of kate daniels. somewhere in the mid-tier of both narrative and prose, which is a rare feat for a writing duo that is normally extremely compelling.

i just don’t know if i’m enjoying this or not. family drama and evil uncles (as per usual) that would be more fun if i was super invested in the couple, or in the side characters.

really enjoying this so far. reading cersei’s chapters and jaime’s chapters back to back is so entertaining - she’s in a court drama full of paranoid scheming that so obviously is not fooling anybody, and he’s so full of guilt and exhaustion that he has no time for it. delicious.

finally made it through part 1! it wasn’t bad necessarily, it just became a slog because nothing super interesting was happening

so Caleb is using the term ‘manosphere’ except they literally just stopped using flip phones like two years ago??? it’s what, 2009?

how is this book so long

reading this in two volumes is so weird bc it has gone on forever but also I’m only 250 pages into the new volume so it feels like I’m still at the start. although, this feels like a reread, just because all of the major events are adapted pretty faithfully in the show

seeing the pieces fall into place around them as they keep making decisions that will doom themselves…. i love this drink

i haven't even read chapter one from everyone's perspective yet. insane.

i have a feeling i’m not going to enjoy this as much as i had hoped.

as long as i keep reading at least 10 pages a fortnight I’ll be able to finish this by the end of the year.

this has somehow absolutely flown by - it’s very good, even if din’s existential (sexistential? thanks robyn) crisis is a little bit strange.

the writing still makes me laugh and makes me sad in equal measure

incredibly compelling and really well researched. i am loving reading through all of the notes.

something tells me if we spent a little more page time on plotting and a little less on the minutia of the food they're eating and the clothes everyone's wearing, this would be properly phenomenal. oh and if catalina's internal narration had a little more confidence that would also do it. that being said, this is excellent, excellent brain-in-neutral entertainment
