I can't recommend this series enough. I've been trying to get everyone and their grandma to read it.

I'm only trying to finish this because I want to see how the contest ends. The romance in this feels overwhelmingly dramatic and forced. I'm not a teenager anymore so overly dramatic declarations of love don't make me swoon they make me cringe. This would literally feel like YA if it wasn't for the repetitive smut.

I don't really get the hype. Maybe it'll pick up soon. There are like 100 people waiting for it on their holds list on Libby and I waited like 8 months for it.

This is a great series, this book reminds me if a cross between dragon rider fantasy like Fourth Wing, Eragon or Dragon Riders of Perth mixed with the theme of a Westerner encountering Eastern culture and politics of Shogun. All wrapped in the fact that it is also historical fiction of the Napoleonic wars with dragons featuring historical figures. This may be a new favorite series.
