Things are getting interesting! (finally)

Never been less interested in something than a condiment called 'Slawsa'. Trying desperately to become invested in this chapter by thinking about my favorite beverage that has disappeared from grocery store shelves. (If you see watermelon chile agua bonita anywhere PLEASE tell me about it.)

I haven't read Hillbilly Elegy, but Benjamin Lorr writes about truck drivers the way I imagine JD Vance writes about poor people (negatively). On the last page he manages to call them 'unclean' while also glorifying their work and lives, as if he didn't just spend the last 20 pages talking about the horrible working conditions and pay.

Did y'all know that Aldi is actually 2 companies, and one of them operates the Aldi stores in the US, and the other owns Trader Joes? I'm learning so much and really looking forward to forgetting all of it as soon as I finish the book.

Did not expect this book to have orgies.

checked out a copy from the library today, so hopefully i can finish before it's due (May 15, 2025)

I think I am ~150 pages in, but I seem to have lost my copy :(
