“Ouderwetse” rolverdeling: vrouwen maken thee (worden niet tijdens de planning betrokken, krijgen alleen te horen wat het idee is en dan mogen ze wat zeggen?) en de mannen besluiten. Van de mannen horen we wat ze als werk deden en de vrouwen worden niet genoemd.

Epic does not mean long drawn out descriptions etc. And again with the weird “attractiveness” of the female characters.

Why are the majority of the women described by attractiveness? The men are just described as short, combed back hair, gray haired, wrinkles, but nowhere: when he was younger he was attractive or even though his hair was gray he still looked handsome. Lots of names: I can’t really tell them apart.

Not sure I am interested enough in the story to be with the MCs whom I do not really like.

Dehydrated, not that much food, yet still manages to kill guards. Rest of the guards do nothing?
Such hubris: able to kill 3 guards no problem, but don’t wanna

As a librarian myself it always make me sad when archivist and librarian are seen as one and the same thing :( Which is a immediate turn off for me

Luckily we read that our MC trains. A lot: before breakfast, runs after breakfast, trains with the rest and somehow still has the energy and time to read and hang out. I wish I had her stamina. The story sometimes feels a bit juvenile, like our MC. It’s better than I expected (so far), but still average/okay.
