So far this story is more of a character psychology analysis than a plot heavy page turner. The way that Jackson uses interal dialogue to portray the differences in personalities within Elizabeth's character is interesting and (especially in the case of the "Betsy" personality) creates a deeply unsettling atmosphere.

I quite like the realist style of writing that Tolstoy utilises. To be able to make all of his characters in some way sympathetic and relatable despite these characters belonging to a class and culture to which I have no relation is an impressive feat. The interweaving storylines of friendship, family, and romance are often heartwarming and often saddening.

Quite a lot of socialising among characters thus far, not terribly spooky yet. The contrast between Eleanor's internal dialogue and the dialogue between the other characters is interesting considering her seemingly troubled upbringing.
