I quite like the realist style of writing that Tolstoy utilises. To be able to make all of his characters in some way sympathetic and relatable despite these characters belonging to a class and culture to which I have no relation is an impressive feat. The interweaving storylines of friendship, family, and romance are often heartwarming and often saddening.
