Very good, but so long and minutely detailed. I want to be finished with it. Almost there.

I loved "Revolution Song" so much and went to Russell Shorto's backlist. He does not disappoint. This is an excellent book about 17th Century Dutch Manhattan. I love the way he weaves real (not famous, just ordinary) people into the narrative and then links them with significant historical events. The narrative is smooth and well-paced.

Very good, but very dry. I am hoping Grant does not get a second term so the book ends sooner.

Tough going....I am wondering if the Civil War is ever going to end. This book is worth reading and well-written. However, reading about military campaigns, especially without a readily available map is not my favorite type of reading.

I just finished "A Tale of Two Cities." Dickens is a master story-teller, but you have to be in the mood for it.

I am more or less reading a little bit ahead of the Netflix series. I just finished The Ersatz Elevator and will take a little break from it. It starts to get tedious if the stories are read continuously.

The last book in the trilogy and the best of the trilogy (although they are all excellent). It's just so long..........

There was so much hype about this book. It is well-written, but I am missing the wow-factor so far. And I don't know why everyone compares books with marriage themes to Gone Girl. Not seeing it....yet.....

I made it to the year 1500; ready for the Making of the Mughal Empire. Once in a while, there is an interesting character. Otherwise, it is a lot of difficult names and places that I forget almost as soon as I read it. This is why I prefer historical novels. I need a story and a good character.

I am going to love this book. It should be savored and not read quickly. I am glad I bought the paperback so I can easily flip back and forth. I am creating an interactive experience by using: www.essentialvermeer.com. It is like traveling along with Michael White.
