Without a doubt, this will perhaps be one of the best books I've read this year. What drew me is the author spoke on how Amazon get readers to read books, and THIS book was at the top of the list and I was convinced. And he's factual on it too. Just from the eyes of blacks and I'm enjoying the ride.

I'm truly enjoying this book to the fullest. I have to carve time out so today, I kept the tv off to read this. Over the years, I have read the small bit of Ella Fitzgerald giving Marilyn her props for getting her into Mocambos ,though its downplayed it a bit. But I also see some things that bother me. The the last two husbands of Marilyn, who physically abused her(Joe DiMaggio), and mentally abused her. Sad.

This book was like a plane. I got hyped and got in it, the take off was quite delayed, but once I was up and away, I was in and hooked. The title grabbed me thanks to my Caribbean background. The plot is a bit twisted and there were times my heart went out to Covey/Eleanor. Still in but coming towards the end.

What or who's mother just ups and leave, then a whole year later, remember you had kids. Especially a young young girl with a drunk daddy?? I'm trying to grasp but I'm just sad for Kya.

I like the book. Lelee and I are both from the Bronx. Only thing, she got to taste fame, while I didn't. Now I get that the book is all over the place. That can be unsettling I agree, but bottom line, Sister's got a story to tell. I think more should be reading it and my heart broke 💔 at times for her, her mom and sisters.

If you happen on this book somehow, and you choose to think it's not worth first read, don't do it. Somehow, I started on late Sunday night, and it's worth it. This book has kept my interest big time. See, I remember when I'm Living Color came out. I wasn't aware of the back story, but now I am. Ok, it was Keenans show. Sure, bring in your family, but it wasn't totally just your family doing the show either.

This book starts off good but I kinda feel for the husband in a sense. He keep feeling he's done everything right for her but he cannot fathom the wrong.

I started but stopped. It dragged, so I left it but I'm back and it's tight. You have a young girl with mad tapping skills, going to a private school, but at home, things are unravelling. Her mom, a recovering addict, lost her job. Her brother, who finished college, is delivering pizzas, and trying to help holding it down. But still stuff is coming apart. What to do?

To be honest, I started to read this a couple of times, but to be honest, THIS is the first time I have read it this FAR, and Dr Watkins talk about Powernomics, Black Labor White Wealth, This should also be required reading because it lit something in me.

I'm going to be real. Not much love from me to William to building hope in two women THEN not keeping in touch with them and keeping it real. At least one did, but she had the good sense to go to college and get a decent job, while the other kinda knowing he was full of it, got married and did well but still hoped so what happened to old dude in the Marines was hard, still no sympathy.
