Why are all of the popular sapphic books either genuinely bad or just disappointingly mediocre. I'm tired of this grandpa.

I'm still giving this book a chance but I'm finding it very hard to take it seriously already because of how pretentious the prose and the characters are.
"Alice. Scottish. Gentle. Tastes like grief." Tastes like grief??? What the hell are you saying man?? 😭😭 I immediately burst out laughing when I read that.
Where are all the good sapphic books when you need them.

Only on chapter 4 so far but this is already one of the most awfully written books I've read in my entire life and I already regret my decision of buying it.
What drugs are people on goodreads on genuinely that this is so highly praised. It's giving boy in middle school writing for the first time, without ever having interacted or talked with anyone before. What is this scripted ass sounding dialogue.

There you are enjoying a book and then BAM raging misogyny.
That feeling when you hate women so much you start fucking men.
Men will always be men.

100 pages in and I fear I am unable to enjoy straight romance anymore, also so far the writing style has felt a tad too pretentious for my taste and the characters make me roll my eyes very hard sigh.
I have loved everything I've read by this author in the past but despite how many people are talking about this book it has sadly already disappointed me and I'll have to force myself to keep reading this at some point.
