Well.. so all these movies about gangsters and corrupt police were actually true... Damn

Listening to this one on audio, very much enjoying the experience so far. We're getting some history of London, of the family and some context about Zac himself - from family, friends and acquaintances

It's always a great (and scary) day when Philip Fracassi releases a new book!
We have a historical setting and three deserters struggling to survive their trek back home through the wilderness. I like the three brothers - one is more vicious than another, makes for an interesting set-up and is fitting of the times.

Still very much enjoying it - the flowery writing, the atmosphere, the tone, the character development.
But it could have been a bit shorter..

Great story, I love the voice and the main character. The historical setting is convincingly rendered and since I don't read many WWII novels, it's informative and evocative as well.
The speculative elements are fun and - with what we now know about all the experiments seeking the supernatural conducted at the time - quaintly fitting for the period.
Worried about the fate of our boy soldier..

Very much enjoying myself - the decision to read it bit by bit has been great, I think - I'm not expecting cohesion or connection between the stories. Instead, I treat them as completely separate beings and that helps a lot. My favourite so far is the Mariana Enríquez' story 'My sad dead'.
I like the variety - Feels like opening a box of chocolates, each time a surprise, a novelty, a discovery

I'm going through it slowly - read the first four stories, Mariana Enrique's one wins so far!

It reminds me why I don't read much YA anymore - I just don't relate to teen problems anymore..
I can see this is very well written and reflects the LatinA experience well, but I couldn't care less about a girl who's trying to date boys behind her mama's back and rebels against the rules

I don't know if it was intentional or not but I really dislike Martim.. I don't care what happens to him at all, so the stakes aren't as high for me. Don't like Isako that much either tbh. Kob is probably most relatable

I'm getting worried.. nothing overly bad is happening but we're getting to the end (hehe.. with 250 pages left), the characters themselves are saying they may be heading towards disaster and am concerned.. I like my Bridgeburners.. please let's not kill them 🤦

I enjoy it but not as much as everyone else seems to, at least so far. Isako is just walking around from one location to another, gathering info.. remains pretty rigid in her beliefs as well

What an interesting character, Isako - she's honourable and loyal, but also rigid in her beliefs, pretty closed-minded. She's holding on to the rules and code she follows and doesn't even entertain the option of there being a grey area. She's also quite judgemental, though not offensive about it. Plus, all her thoughts circle around her age and how she used to be faster, stronger, smarter, etc.

Yea, I'm still in the game ;)
I can't figure out where this is heading (as always) - we got to the attack on the city we've been building up to.. what now?
