This is so delicious 😋 I’m eating every word up I feel so greeedyyy

Sorry but this can’t be the book everyone’s been banging on about as one of the best of the year? It def was readable n held my attention but wow the hype surrounding it? DEEPLY UNDERSERVED. I love a typical millennial ennui, Sally Rooney-esque novel as much as the next babe (& appaz so does Sally Rooney, given the endorsement), but c’mon people, it gets to a point where it all starts to feel a little reductive

I’m really trying

if it’s written by patrick radden keefe… trust and believe I will be reading it

praying this cures my month long reading slump

im free!

home stretch!

I am struggling! some gooooood bars in this but its just not clicking for me. im kinda forcing myself to finish at this point.

getting more into it but this is my 4th Steinbeck book and i’m starting to think east of eden was a one off for me. obv he’s a talented writer. but, i’m still looking for that high I felt with eoe & I haven’t found it any of his other books. grapes of wrath was my last hope, but tbh i’m only 30% in… still time. I think my issue is I like more character driven stories over plot and this is more plot driven

east of eden rocked my world… let’s see what the grapes of wrath is saying

I'm taking my time because I'm loving it so much. It feels more in the vein of Beautiful World, Where Are You, which I'm happy about, as its one of my favourites among Rooney’s works. I can really see how much Rooney is coming into her own with her writing, leaning more into a literary fiction vibe. Sally is everything people say she is—sorry!

my first clarice lispector…

“The tract merely expressed what every Algerian felt deep down: colonialism is not a machine capable of thinking, a body endowed with reason. It is naked violence and only gives in when confronted with greater violence.”

been on my list FOREVER! excited to dive in

The number of gems in this is astounding. I absolutely understand why Toni Morrison is considered one of the greats.

my first toni morrison! I have very high expectations.

stunning prose
