i feel lightheaded. thinking about how i get to read this book, and that it’s here and real, and that enough people cared to make it here and real. i feel like i have the sun in my throat.

unfortunately not even this book is good enough to stop the internet brain rot taking me over upon reading the phrase “five muffled booms”

i’m in love, plain and simple. that this book exists… that this book exists - !

thinking about the story someone told me about Kropotkin just quietly doing the dishes while staying with friends in toronto. kicking my feet in the air and giggling at him lambasting male socialists for considering housework “beneath their superior masculine dignity.” ask me about my crush. going full “so there’s this boy” about P.K.

update: they were right to keep that girl locked up, she is annoying. this book is annoying!

ursula run, the gamers are coming.

“This is the secret of wealth: find the starving and destitute, pay them half a crown, and make them produce five shillings’ worth in a day, amass a fortune by these means […] At the bottom it is nothing more nor less than grinding the face of the poor.” ok peter!!! ok!!!

dropping everything, slamming on the breaks, pulling a u-ey, speeding across several lanes of traffic to read this book.

thank you to Queen Books Slow Burn book club for giving me the time to sit down and truly get excited about k***ing Doug Ford :)

kicking off spooky season with the book that has whispered its weird little siren song to me for years, what i hope will be a masterclass in Unsettlingly Precocious Girl-Child lit.

sorry to anyone who thought i was maybe a Cool Girl who read Cool Books, but i’m not interested in that, i’m interested in true love!!!!!!

started reading for the cute escapist love story, kept on reading for the full-body ptsd flashback i get each time St Paul Street, St. Catharines is described. never read a book before that features so many specific places i’ve done sketch comedy in.

the Inquisition is so weird, man, imagine you’re trying to get laid and some christian cop rocks up and starts screaming at you about cat buttholes

i want to like this… i’m trying so hard to like this… but it turns out a big part of why greek plays go so hard might be because of the gods, magic, stabbings, etc.

you had me at "Anne Rice meets Umberto Eco"

this tyranny of the cartoony romance book cover will not stand, man. this book is an emotionally devastating masterpiece, why are the WikiHow boys prancing across the cover.

well, this will either exorcise the demonic presence left over by my aborted PhD or give it the strength it needs to finally kill me :)

i've inhaled these too fast to offer any insights on a book-to-book basis, but i would happily live inside Lord Fine's catty little brain forever

I'm just so in love with this world, Pascale could have these crazy kids do anything and I'd be like "makes sense, when you consider the moon, etc."

She also really understands how young 20-somethings work - i.e., everyone starts off dating the wrong person in the friend group and then they all swap.

forgot how funny and cute it is that on the 3rd day Adso is like, "For the sake of a Holy truth and my immortal soul, I must explain to you, my reader, how good I am at dirty talk and fingering"

rereading for book club. at last... the whole squad will finally agree to get matching Fra Dolcino tattoos with me...
