This is the first time I’ve read a light novel with good prose. God I should’ve bought the second book when I had the chance…

I love that Kyon is legitimately a human loser, if HS was made today he definitely would’ve been an analytical Chad™ with 60 cheat skills.

So Yuki reveals herself first… I wonder why she didn’t show Kyon proof that she was a robot?

Haruhi is such a fun character, I understand why this series was so big back in the day!

Do all thrillers prioritize melodrama over mystery or is this one just terribly written?

The mysteries haven’t gotten any better but I do like the atmosphere!

Didn’t know this was a supernatural mystery but so far I’m liking it!

I’m beginning to understand why, despite how dated and regressive many elements of this book are, people call DoV “feminist erotica”. Nin focuses on the pleasure of both the female protagonists and the reader like no writer I’ve ever seen before. The inclusion of foreplay and poetic descriptions of the sensations and inner world the women feel makes all the difference!

This book is terrible

I can get how this book is erotic to some, but it feels more like a collection of dark fairytales than anything meant to titillate.

The story finally has direction again! Is this how trilogies were written in the past?

This book had such a strong start but I'm not liking it's back half. The plot feels so confused (Ariane has barely come up, most of the story is just Rien and Perceval walking from one end of the ship to the other, Dust and the AIs/Angels barely show up and the marriage plot feels rushed), it's detracting from my enjoyment.

Also why is there *more* incest???

Wait, so do these people know they’re not using magic or not? And how big is this ship?

Mallory is such an interesting character. Never would’ve expected to see a nonbinary character in a book from 2008, nor for Bear to avoid using pronouns for them without it feeling awkward.

Also they had to have known “woolly-haired” was a terrible way to describe black hair even all the way back in 2007/8 right?

It’s “funny” (more like “interesting/intriguing”) how Tara leaves Thomas behind to not drag him into “her problem” and quickly becomes overwhelmed with isolation. She even loses interest in experimenting with the time loop! All she can do is watch Thomas and grieve the life they had together.

So Tara moves forward in time but everything/everyone else resets. Interesting!

Balle’s great at exposing, despite entry #123 being mostly Tara telling the reader what the rules of the time loop are it didn’t feel boring at all.

This feels like a light novel plot with litfic prose. I’m digging it!
