I keep starting new books and not finishing them ahah but this one, this one is very engaging and beautifully written. “Eğer insan emanetini muhafaza ederse, kendisinde imanı bulur. Semayı ve Arşı kendisinde seyreder.”

Although I can’t relate to the plot, it does feel wholesome to read this :). Maybe I should read more romance fiction 🙃

I had high hopes for this, I was so excited to read something from a Palestinian writer but sorry. I did not like this. It was quite disturbing and triggering for me. I just don’t like snobby, bratty characters and endless random plots with no clear storyline.

every time I think the plot can’t get more sad, it does. why am I getting more upset with every proceeding chapter?!

Highlights basic facts, a well written and a concise and powerful short essay of the past 80 years.

I am going quite slow but it has been very eye opening so far! I have learned a lot.

I am reminded of this book every time I see an ‘Orientalist’ painting or movie scene. Or anything remotely associated with the Orientalist view on the Middle East/Asia. Makes you realise how much of your own history has been manipulated to fit Western European narrative.

Every sentence rolls of my tongue like butter, so poetic, so melodiously written. Toni Morrison knows how to write passionate characters. I am enjoying her writing so far. Planning to finish this book today, 110 pages to go!

50 pages in and as I’m reading, I can hear in the background of my mind German-Swiss opera playing.. 🎶 Liking the story so far :)

I am perplexed by the amount of misogynistic content..
