This book is so laugh out loud funny at parts, and then breaks your heart in others. These characters are so dang well written.

This is so dramatic and like a soap opera when it is good, and then I struggle through passages about farming. I know very little about the twists and turns of this story having never seen any adaptation, so am surprised at each point which is a delight, though it definitely feels that it is building slowly to tragedy. I don’t know why by I love a horse race scene in fiction.

Having the best time, so funny, enjoying having more awareness of what’s going on, I love these characters, Magnus is just the sweetest man making puns and loving Abigail, ugh and the awful teens, and just Gideon and her big arms

Listening to the audiobook for a reread and enjoying Moira Quirks narration - I loved her audio for The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy.
Really enjoying going back into this series with a better understanding of what the heck is going on. And Gideon is still hilarious.

Every time with these books I feel so lost, but in a good way.
Rereading these after will be a joy

Waiting on the graphic audio part 2 hold from the library.

Started listening to the audiobook and I’m hooked? So many people reviewed it saying it slow but I’m really enjoying it so far, great set up. Apparently this has been on my Goodreads TBR since 2017

I don’t think poor Joey can be put through much more, but I also know part of what’s coming from Shannon’s books…absolutely heartbreaking

Returning to Tommen after a brief diversion I think I’m finally ready to continue Joey and Aoife’s story

Burst out laughing at that reveal.
I think I need to read these instead of listening to the audiobooks because there’s so much action I tune out and then am not sure how we got to certain points or where other characters are. The narrator is really good but damn does Darrow sound smug, and maybe it would be less so if I read it? But I feel like all I’ll hear is his voice.

Hang on why does this feel like fan fiction of the She’s All That Parody in Not Another Teen Movie?

I think the discourse surrounding this book is preventing it being able to stand on its own merits. And obviously the marketing has caused that but a lot of that would be out of Soto’s hands.

This is almost word for word rework which is fine, I knew it was going to be a very straight rework. It’s interesting to see how it’s been changed to avoid any legal issues, I think it’s a shame that how it was promoted has tainted public perception and response because overall I feel like the story would do fine to stand on its own merits as a romantasy.
