Love that 30 pages in heterosexuality isn’t alway the presumed norm. :3

Much better in paperback but I do find it curious to follow all the characters and action, even some thirty pages in! This is gonna be quite the world to learn about and follow… in the best way!

Decent so far. It feels like there’s a fair amount of “this is what happened in the last book” reminders and sprinkled in world building of what has happened between the last book and this book.

I’m very middle of the road about this book so far.

I’m so glad that the Halloween party plot line actually worked out like this. I had an inkling it might, but I’m glad I was right. That was GOOD!

“That was the most Sally Jackson thing to say ever. A goddess has scared her, changed her life, and later threatened to incinerate her son if he didn’t pet sit her animals correctly. And my mom’s reaction was That poor immortal goddess must really be hurting. You should help her.”

That reminds me of my family and I love it.

I quite enjoyed the side quest into the perfume shop, with the callback to Sea of Monsters! It’s interesting to really learn more about Gale as a character!

Genuinely considering DNF’ing this book. I usually don’t like the “changing myself for my crush” kinds of stories. I don’t know why I thought that might change if it were a MLM romance/potential couple.

I love the queer camp and that everyone has the chance to be their queer self, but I just am hating this whole plot.

I dunno. Something about these characters feel a bit off, Blech to me. I want to see this story through but I feel it’s gonna be a struggle.

Ok, now I am starting to see how this could be a full story about house-sitting for a goddess. Things are getting more interesting, and funny with the great writing of Riordan, obviously!

Same classic PJO humour! Loving it so far, as usual.

Good so far. A little predictable but good.

Interesting to see that Ramsey is fluid with her gender. Cool to see that gender presentation and perception is something that can be changed and accepted with magic!

Nope. I’m actively frustrated by this narrator. I’m DNF’ing this.

There’s a CHANCE that I’ll try again another time with the audiobook, but not in the near future.

COLLECTIONS (Amber Blaeser-Wardzala)

This was really interesting, especially the further into the story I read. I really wish there were more to the ending instead of just leaving off where it did, even a few paragraphs more. It didn’t feel finished to me.
Otherwise it was quite good and worth a reread!

THE SCIENTIST’S HORROR STORY (Darcie Little Badger)
Something about science in horror really gets my heart pumping and my brain panicking. Loved this story and it’s made me realize I should really get more of Darcie Little Badgers works, as I loved this and “Elatsoe”!

I’m considering DNF’ing already. The narrator’s cadence makes me actively fume. Why does the middle of a sentence sound like the end?!!? This isn’t how people talk!

Gonna skip to chapter 1 to see if it’s part of the writing style or actually the narrator as there is a CHANCE that this is a writing style I cannot stand, not a fault of the narrator. But I want to know before I DNF.

I can tell you the cost of my brother’s body.

This was an interesting story of grief and resurrection. I am both glad it ended where it did, while also wanting more.
