I'm almost near the end but like ... this is the start of a series, right? Why is so much happening in book 1 that could have been paced better to be included in the future. I can't imagine what's going to be left to unravel or be part of book 2 if this is what we're doing for book 1. I guess I still have about a hundred pages left but it just seems strange to me.

The worldbuilding in this is fantastic but everything else? Not quite hitting the mark for me. I’ll give it another 100 or so pages and then decide if I continue from there or not.

I actually started this yesterday even though it's been on my "currently reading" shelf for a LONG time. I am REALLY enjoying it. The trials are really interesting, learning about the lore has been really cool, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

why do we continuously go back to the school? there's like two scenes outside of the school and then everything happens during the school year??

I feel like we're dealing with all the same problems again rather than moving them forward.

I'm very close to just DNFing this one. Nothing seems to really be happening and I'm getting bored of how repetitive this is starting to feel. I hope it picks up soon.

this came on audible plus much later than the rest of the books so I'm reading it before the end of the year! so glad I didn't purchase it in the interim :)

I was ~influenced~ to pick it up (by the author) and am liking it so far! I hope to finish it tonight.

I am enjoying this already and hope that the set up does well with the actual execution of the plot!

I am loving this so far! I had to go into the office today so I couldn't stay up and read all night. There are some little plot pieces I would have liked to be adjusted but overall I think this is a really solid fantasy novel!

I originally DNFed this at 6% and ... I kinda see why. I am listening on audiobook this time so maybe it'll be different but there's a lot I don't like in this one. And I think it's a bit weird to have Vanessa and Josh together in a book having two separate arcs. Why not just have them separate?

eh, this is kinda mid but I'll finish it and see if I want to continue the series.

when I stopped reading earlier this year, I stopped in the middle of this. I'm restarting to make sure I get the full experience.

the second book is on audible plus so I figured I'd reread and finish this duology!

enjoying this so far. it feels a bit like other books i've read - and some of it isn't quite falling into place for me yet. but I have high hopes!

happy release day! I had preordered the audiobook so once my meetings are done for the day, I'm going to listen (while budgeting for work)

I like the overlaps of what happens on each coast but I'm not sure how this will end

I like this dual narrative. I am interested in seeing how it ends up because obviously only one of these can/will/did happen
