Da fuh is happening?!

Um…I don’t even know why I picked up this book all those years ago or what it is about. Did not finish.

I want to like her but she's the epitome of white feminism. She finally spent a little time reflecting on her mistakes but she doesn't loathe herself enough. Also? When is the book going to get around to talking about people of color? And what of the resistance? No one took to the streets when they started laying down the law?

This author is no Margaret Atwood but I imagine that doesn't matter to most people.

Okay I like the premise. The protagonist was pretty relatable at first, but right now she is getting on my nerves. I wish she would feel some shame over not being on the front lines picketing. I am not victim blaming so much as being pissed that she was so passive when her rights were being chipped away. Her friend was leading the charge for women's rights and yet the protagonist chose to ignore what was happening.

For the love of all that is holy, if the breakup is all this story has been building up to I swear I am going to throw my phone across the room. I hate that the relationship is front and center and that it is making me have sexist thoughts. Cheese and crackers, Mal, man the hell up! Who cares that suddenly your girlfriend is the center of all the attention? I mean, besides you?! You are the worst! Beat it!

Okay, you know what? For a while I've been wondering if this author is basically taking all her very favorite scenes from movies and TV shows and rewriting them to fit her story. Now I am almost sure of it. What is this suxkfest?

Oops! The author accidentally made the other man way more interesting and worthy than the guy we are supposed to like.

The protagonist's love intersest has a lot of nerve. First he basically ignored her for the first 8-10 years they knew one another, then he became a jealous infant who didn't trust her around men who showed interest in her. Not only is he jealous for no reason but he is also giving her crap for choosing to use her unique powers to save their country. Gee, how selfish of her...amirite???

Totally OITNB set in the UK but with ghosts and zero used tampons hidden in food. So, overall, kind of good.

I am fairly confident most of these stories within the story are 100% unnecessary. We get it, she's special and will do something important. Can we move on yet? No??? Gotta keep drilling her mysterious specialness into our heads?!? Great. I can't do this much longer. Stop sucking, book, because you have really great bones and are filled with potential but there is just too much that doesn't need to be here.

All the books I've been dying to read aren't going to be released until August or September and another had it's release date pushed back another year. I'm so bored! And it takes me a good day of research before committing to a new series. MY LIFE IS RUINED!!!!1!!!!!11!!!!

Based on a short story by the same name, I think. Not bad. Hopefully it doesn't suck.

Okay, so Gone Girl...is it really worth reading? I mean, really??? Talk me into it or throw some other suggestions my way. What are you reading over the Labor Day weekend?

Pretty much the most devastating thing just happened in this book. I'm unable to function right now because of it. I'm feeling physically ill, that's how awful the situation is! Even though I'm super upset with him, I've got to hand it to Dan Wells for getting me to care about his world—not just the characters, the entire WORLD!!!—so much I'm crying about what just happened.

Such a good book. I mean, so frakking good. Seriously, why is everyone wasting their time reading the Divergent series? EVERYONE! Put down that crappy book and pick up the first book to this series! It's so much better. By far.
