read one chapter and im already sure that this is going to be a rough and dark ride. two sisters- one as the protagonist and the other with a dark past that leaked onto the lives of others. this book is going to be really fun to read!!!

got the ARC today, lets see how it goes!!!!

i feel like an old man now. when i read shantaram in 2019, i was a reckless teenager who got on his toes, flipping pages. reading mountain shadow in 2026, after 5 years, the characters have grown, i have grown and life turned around a lot much. maybe i needed this long gap between the two books. if i had read it right away, would've been a bummer.

im really enjoying the book. the way the protagonist switches back and forth between his contemplation about his family and the translation of the greek epic is so dynamic, its gripping and evolving with every moment. i'm gonna be sad when this book is over.

a historian specializing on homer, he reads and re-reads the papyrus on which the epics were written and one day he finds a certain line- "i am here because of Psoas of Midea, son of nobody".
a person who never existed in any historical remarks.
and then he finds out the trojan war and Psoas are related and he goes nuts and now im going nuts!!!!

i'm reading this arc and this is so funny. its heartwarming (not the east asian cozy cafe genre tho) and the human interactions are interesting as well. a small part of vienna where everyone knows everyone and its so fun to read how they interact, eventhough the topics are a bit serious

the book was getting confused (partial blame on me coz im dumb af). after digging for a bit,i found that the swedish version of the book published this as a collection of 5 short stories, but the english translation which i got to review introduced this book rather as a novel which comes to make sense at the end. and i got terribly confused reading it coz the chapters weren't connecting at all. now its fine tho-

all i read until now is a pseudo-interview between the author and a man where interestingly, the author ended up as the one answering rather than asking questions. (THIS IS SO FUN I'M LOVING THIS BOOK!!)

got the advanced reader copy of small comfort and i decided to take a peek at it and ended up reading 44 pages. an amusing and witty starting, i like it. ᓚᘏᗢ

Got the advance reader copy of Yann Martel's upcoming novel and by the first look, it's gonna be a thrilling read. Gotta pull back Homer from Limbo to sit with me and contemplate while I read the book-

my friend gifted me this book last year and i almost read the book (still got a few chapters) and i totally forgot the existence of this book 😭😭. i was dusting my shelf and then i saw this and i picked it up and contemplated for a hot second whether i finished it or not and i DID NOT! (should finish it soon, tho it'll be a three star read at most).
