How is a book about alien abduction boring, I do not understand

I truly never thought I could be bored by a Beauty and the Beast retelling set in the publishing world … but here I am! The characters are basically 2D archetypes of the Disney characters. Convince me to finish if you like, but I’m thinking of returning this 😭
