When Isaac’s dad makes him stand in the rain with the bike, it isn’t really about the bike.
It’s about control.
It’s about shame as discipline.
It’s about teaching a child:
“Your mistakes make you unworthy of warmth, safety, and comfort.”
And that… stays with a person.
Because the lesson the child actually learns is not:
“Be more careful.”
The lesson becomes:
“When I fail, I deserve to suffer alone.”
