Just started and wow… Quicksilver hooked me immediately. That feeling when you know a book is about to have you in a chokehold. No spoilers, just loving the start!

When Isaac’s dad makes him stand in the rain with the bike, it isn’t really about the bike.
It’s about control.
It’s about shame as discipline.
It’s about teaching a child:
“Your mistakes make you unworthy of warmth, safety, and comfort.”
And that… stays with a person.
Because the lesson the child actually learns is not:
“Be more careful.”
The lesson becomes:
“When I fail, I deserve to suffer alone.”

growth isn’t about proving your good at something, it’s about being brave enough to be bad at it first and keep going anyway.

mindset does not change the difficulty of the work — it changes how we carry it

So far, I’m struggling to enjoy this Audible Original. The added theatrics and background sounds are often louder than the actual dialogue, which makes it hard to follow the story at times. I appreciate the effort for a cinematic experience, but the audio mixing takes away from the listening experience for me.
