Wasn’t really capturing my full attention until the 30% mark, but boy am I glad I stuck with it. We’re getting Star Trek and Dune levels of weirdness and I love that for me.

Thank goodness the edition I own has a much better cover. It was why I picked up this book and learned about this author.

It could be that I’m not in the mood right now, but this isn’t hooking me the way the others did. Bummer.

Very readable, I’m flying through a his, but I wonder if it’s a little mean, a little too cruel to women who want this life. So far, not one woman who’s a mother is truly happy with her choice, and I just don’t believe that. I feel a little like the Angry Women Natalie imagines are watching her…is that the author’s intention?

I can’t believe I predicted the whole thing. Wow. Still fun though.

Oh my god I was right about everyone being involved. I know I’m right about the kid who died being the bf’s brother. Wow.

I have a prediction (spoilers):


Christa’s boyfriend isn’t dead, the body was saw was the tour guide’s, who apparently has a similar stature to her bf. The teeth she saw came from the owners. The bf’s brother was the one she was involved with killing by accident. The rest is in my notes.

It’s not really hooking me, but the audiobook narrator is fantastic.

This book is so interesting and the journey puts me in mind of Between Two Fires. Honestly this book and Carmilla are both making me aware of how I’ve been consuming books recently. I feel as though I’m reading to find out the end, whereas with this book I’m greatly enjoying the journey and lamenting the end drawing closer.

Love this so far. It really does have the feeling of Dark Souls.
