Looking at books I have read to check for any series I really liked but did not finish for some reason or another and discovered that I did not finish this series! I am shocked I have given every book 5 stars and the only book I did not read was the 6th and last book!
I would hate to read the last book and miss any call backs so I decided to start this series over and officially end it this year.
I hope it holds up!

I...respect what Drew Hayes is trying to accomplish. The concept is fantastic but choosing Tori as the main character who navigates this world was a mistake in my opinion.
Tori is unlikeable. I am only 6 hours in and I am a bit drained following her.

I feel like the Queen of Ravens right now because the disgust and scorn I feel right now is unimaginable.

I want to like this book...I do...I picked it up because I want to support a dark skinned female MC...but...I'll be surprised if I rate this more than 2 stars.

I like the premise so far but I am not a fan of the MC. I get that being hot headed is a wink at her powers but I hate when women have to have that type of personality to be seen as a 'strong female character'

...I have seen this book recommended a few times so I decided to try it. It is pretty interesting so far buuuttt why did no one give a trigger warning for this book?! I can't imagine recommending this series without giving the person a warning.

I mean Yikes it is pretty bad and it's a major story plotline.
Why wouldn't someone warn about that type of content?!

I am...worried. I have a feeling that Lyana (the MC) is a person of color for aesthetic reasons rather than Davis wanting to have an MC who was a POC.
I may be wrong of course but it seems like Lyana was written to be darkskinned so that the contrast with her ivory wings will be pronounced.
I hope I am wrong but the narrator doesn't help (she is a white) and I visualize a basic white MC. I want a fantasy POC lead.

16 hour into this 26 hour book and I have yet to reach the 'inciting incident.'
The book is well written and I don't mind listening to a 'slice of life' type of story but 16 hrs of 'slice of life' with only little hints of the future that is to come is a bit much.

...I'm so tired. He gets betrothed to a female goblin and comments that he wishes she had "BIGGER TITS AND A PRETTIER FACE" WHY!? AND THE FEMALE GOBLIN ONLY RECENTLY STARTED TO BLEED? Someone read this and decided to publish it. SOMEONE READ THIS AND GAVE IT 5 STARS! How can you read this and not think once "YIKES". Zhgulyov sees women as things to be raped or murdered or as a sex item. No women in leadership.

I am listening to a POV of a person who was captured and he comments that the female captives are REPEATEDLY AND BRUTALLY RAPED! But he is like "We men have our own problems. We are not getting fed. These women get food, water and they get to bathe in between their CLIENTS VISITS so their fate stopped concerning me" I GAGGED! THIS MAN JUST CALLED THESE WOMEN'S RAPISTS CLIENTS! WHO LOOKED AT THIS SHIT AND SAID YES!

I can't imagine someone giving this a 5 and not commenting on the fact this shit is...YIKES. I hate to make generalizations but Russian litRPGs have amazing world building and interesting game rules but the MCs are usually shit and their portrayal/how they perceive women is gross, sexist, and misogynistic. When women are mentioned in this book they are seen as objects. Things are done to them (RAPE) have no agency.

Um...WTF. The portrayal of women and how they are perceived is extremely worrying. First woman that is described almost becomes a rape victim of a goblin and the second woman says a sentence and hands go to her breast. She is short and busty but hey the MC doesn't ogle her instead he comments that she will either be a corpse or a BREEDER if the goblins catch her. Also he is not interested in having sex with her Yikes

Wow! A Bisexual Person of Color King! And I just finished reading First Song Books 2 which had a POC Bisexual Queen I have no choice but to stan.

Chapter 13: A strong Bi woman of color! Wow! I can only stan! I just love the diversity in this series.

Why the fu*k does Heath have to justify anything to these people? Genuinely why? This feels so forced going through an entire monologue like this is extremely stupid in the situation they are in...THESE PEOPLE DO NOT TREAT YOU LIKE A FRIEND! LEAVE THEM! This is a three star book and it might even drop lower.

I honestly don't find how they treat Heath funny... I actually hate it. Right now Heath is my favorite character and I genuinely hate everyone else.

I hate to be that person screaming at the ether when I read some B.S. in these litRPGs but for a relatively progressive book this 'racial change' is some Bullshit. Do not introduce discrimination in your book and make it a huge part of these characters story and then have them say 'Oh golly. Being an ogre is really hard let's change our race."

The plot isn't even a saving grace. In the MC's first two spins the lands on the coveted purple and gold slots. For that to happen back to back is honestly a hint of how bad this book was going to be.

Even in the first two hours I knew that this book wasn't for me but Dang it! Hoopla credits are like gold sometimes. This book is EXTREMELY sexist in the 35% of the book women are put into 3 categories -The Mother Figure, Fat and Ugly, and the Whore. The MC comments on the fact that his sister may end up in a brothel and his mother has lost her beauty and gained sagging breast....I mean Yikes...

5 chapters in and I am actually pretty enamored by this book

One of my pet peeves with sci fi books is the lack of racial diversity. You are more likely to see a different race of species than a significant person of color.

I'm thinking this because it feels like all the aristocrats are white. There are to be 3 arranged marriages and honestly I would be gobsmacked if any of them were a person of color.

When you read litRPG you have to be prepared for some sexism

A woman is offered two class options Journalist or Prostitute and in the first couple of hours of meeting the MC is planning to have sex with him in order to manipulate him

The MC meets a alien that is able to morph to what a person desires to see and he makes them a more humanoid female "thinner waist, pull in the stomach, and make the breast bigger"

I'm starting to think this book is a psychological test or something It...It has to be...There is a moment when a character calls someone a skank for sleeping with the main character to level up and I was honestly incredulous THEIR ENTIRE GUILD IS SLEEPING WITH HIM!

"I need my badass bitches" This is a legit quote and someone responded with "You had me at 'I need my badass bitches'" and "Don't worry big daddy" Yikes

I'm tryin' I really am but Goodness gracious Not even the game world could save this book

There is no way that anyone would create a game that would make the players drug like addicted to health potions

Pro tip if you are going to introduce a character through the eyes of her father don't mention her 'perky breast' and waist so small that fingers can touch because it's annoying when a MC mentions it but its Yikes when a father says it about his daughter
