This book has me discovering a new pet peeve on every page, that´s the extend to which this doesn´t work for me. Probably gonna DNF, but it´s such an easy read.

I feel the need to comment again, since there are moments when I absolutely adore and value this book, but in others it gets a bit too sentimental, trivial and - at one point - religious for my taste. Still a very special reading experience.

An update since I'll probably need some time for this book: I love how real and complex the characters are. I can't read a ton of this book at a time because of it's slice-of-life nature and because the protagonist has some depressive phases which I love the portrayal of but are hard to read. Potential 5 star candidate, though.

So far, this one is especially funny.

Blackwater meets Brideshead Revisited

Not interested in 2 out of 3 POV-characters and the one I like doesnt make up for them so far. Considered continiung for the dog, but I'm too annoyed.

So far it´s Blaze meets 11/22/63 and a 5 star story for me, but I know there´s going to be a turn really soon...

Not nearly as good as first law but still absolutely fun.

Der zweite Roman hat mir nicht ganz so gut gefallen. Der Schreibstil hatte Witz und war auch sonst gut zu lesen, inhaltlich nam es mich aber einfach nicht komplett mit.

Der erste Roman gefällt mir schon sehr gut. Es geht um Entfremdung und Unsicherheiten.

Why wasn't this book rediscovered when Blake Crouch was blowing up? Haven't read one of his books but this one seems to be that kind of mindfuck book and it's good.

None of my goodreads friends seem to like this book that much but so far it might become one of my favorites by King.

Some really good lines and ideas, but after reading The Company and part of this, I don't think I like the conflicts K J Parker writes.

I love the beginning. Will this be the first LeGuin book that actually works for me?

Compelling beginning, I already like the characters. Let's see where this goes...

The writing advise part for me is more like a "ah, that's why I like his books so much".

I loved the biographical parts, which I expected, but I also really enjoy the writing advise.

The first chapter got me hooked. Relatable problems and an effective, captivating writing style.

Very similar reading experience to Insomnia so far. Let's see if that's a good or bad thing.

I really like it so far. It reads like a very typical King with all his strenghs and his attention on character work.

Umso weniger Zeit in der Gegenwart verbracht wird, umso besser :)

At this point, if I just never picked this book up again, I would probably forget it within a month. I'm just not feeling it so far.

Die ersten 100 Seiten lassen mich gespalten zurück. Der historische Aspekt und alles, was man über die Mutter der Protagonistin erfährt, ist spannend, aber die Diskussionen in der Gegenwart finde ich recht platt und ich glaube der Schreibstil will mir auch zu viel.

So far I'm not impressed. It's a bit too easy going, missing any real weight and I don't feel the tension between the characters. It's like the Enders Game movie adaptation: the plot is totally fine but there is no feeling evoked.
