Rly starting to struggle w this. Feels so predictable like it's following the same pattern as everything else, no originality, feels like every facet of it is taken from somewhere else. I've known exactly what was going to happen, makes it feel like a slog to get through bc like whats the point? What does it bring to the table? Like, annoying FMC hates MMC for no reason even though internally shes fawning, v original

While it’s not bad, I feel like I’d prob enjoy this more with my eyeballs than my ears. But I’m already so far into it I feel it’s worthwhile to finish it out as an audiobook. Also struggling with what feels like a direct correlation to One Dark Window, with such a directly similar (dare say copied) magic system and even character names. Like a ODW-Crimson Moth hybrid fanfic or something. Thoughts pending

Aw man, my very fun trainwreck of a series has become just a straight up trainwreck it seems :(
These have been bad since the start but I was having so much fun up until maybe 30% thru this one. It started off great but quickly had a shift in writing style around 30% mark now it's cringe and reads rly poorly & clunky. Makes me wonder if that first bit is from a different draft & the rest was rushed or something.

How does this book simultaneously have me CACKLING at how absolutely TERRIBLE it is yet also totally invested and needing to know more?

so far nothing has really happened, but also somehow not much buildup either? just a lot of exposition and rambling, really. i'm finding that i quite like david and rhys and their dynamic but so far not liking moira much at all which makes things difficult as it seems the majority of chapters are focused on her despite the book being marketed as focused on david?

God I really hate this whole miscommunication as a plotline bullshit, it's annoying and exhausting. The first book was interesting enough but this whole entire thing so far is just two people being cunts to each other because they can't take 2 minutes to just talk. It's not cute, it's not interesting, it's cringey and cheap and I hate that second books in series are basically nothing but this crap now.
