لا زالت قدرتي على القراءة باللغة العربية بطيئة جداً ولكن استمر في محاولتي للعودة إلى لغتي وقد ساعدني عبدالرحمن منيف مع ذلك من خلال كتابته السلسة والتي ببساطة قادرة أن تجعلك تشعر وكأنك هناك مع الشخصيات في وادي العيون

uhh.. this book is getting weird now

dante fainted twice already

i’m loving the unfiltered stream of dialogue so far, although it’s strange that it reads like a novel but without chapters. i never know when to take a pause from reading, it feels like i have to constantly continue. also, the father’s quintessential stubborn character is perfect.

somehow enjoying this book and simultaneously very bored of it. some passages are heart-wrenching, others just drag. in general, the author’s tone is quite passive so far and maybe that’s done purposefully to augment the silence of the main character but it’s becoming frustrating to read, waiting for something to happen.

3 chapters into this second book of summer 2024. so far, i am equally confused by the events occurring and mesmerized by the prose. not sure how much of this story is surrealism/metaphorical or if it’s for real, if that makes sense.
