I am not sure why, but I can't connect with this so far AT ALL.. perhaps it's because I haven't read a new book from Kresley for years.. it feels a bit diluted and not serious enough.. reads a bit like a Gena Showalter book than an IAD.
The protagonist characters' personalities are 1-dimensional & cookie-cutter-esque, interactions very formulaic and I can't take them seriously for the life of me.

Having a hard time connecting and getting into this one, not sure why …

So good. As per usual I can’t stop listening to this book but trying to not binge this to spread out the goodness for at least a few days.

I'm getting some Strong "I've heard this before" vibes (the school in Never-night Series) and I'm bored. It's been very dark, melancholic and depressing story so far. I LOVED the Nevernight series but this reeks of long-winded adolescent BS shenanigans and lacks that "pull me in" quality that Nevernight had. I don't care for the writing anymore (or characters) when the story is so cookie-cutter.

I can usually breathe thru almost anything Atlas writes but this book's heroine is too air headed and naive to me, which is rarely the case with Atlas ... ugh

sooo I'm really not into this book at all from the start. I get it, as a plot devise but I just don't want to hear it in the beginning of the damn book with MC's I haven't heard much from for at least 3 years. I've been postponing reading this for the past week... there, I said it.

Good stuff, I love how Larissa manages to keep the plot twists fresh despite it being the 6th book or some such. Love the hell-hound idea and bond factor.

This is getting so fast paced and juicy, it almost makes up for the Sin-factor!

Sookie gets beat up twice in last 40 pages... lol perhaps the gods of annoying heroines have heard me.

I'm really feeling the male lead in this one; finally, a non-cliche, non-grouchy alpha Alien, plus the overall story arch thickens somewhat - yes, please!

SIn is acting extremely immature and annoying, she literary ruins the experience for me. the plot is not bad though and I can see why I liked this series the first time around.

I really can't stand Sookie. at least the plot is ramping up now

What is happening here?!!!!! Ppl dying left and right and The world seems to have upended. This book started out much darker than any previous by Ione that I can remember. I can’t wait see how she’ll make it work out.

This is getting ow sooo juicy and epic... pivotal developments and even deaths take place that turn the tables on team “good”. I need to rush up on my world details and rules to fully appreciate above plot twists so I’m pausing this until I re-read the Revenant.

I decided to re-read this book as many details in The Reaper made little sense to me due to how long it’s been since I’ve read this series. So far, it’s alright.

Ow, how I’ve missed Ione’s world and writing... especially in the midst of recent bad book streak

I love how the author still manages to include such a variety of heroes and heroines. A deaf heroine in this case provides a communication barrier (not for the first time in this series) and It makes for some fun reading material.
