solo dance- the feeling of being so alone in the world, is one i feel all too well.

i felt a kindred spirit with the loner protagonist, and by the end i wanted to reach out to her and give her a hug. i wanted to tell her she isn't alone, and have the same reassurance said from her to me.

beautifully written prose. i love jesmyn ward's work so much! however, i had trouble following this one, which made for a frustrating reading experience.

This is a fantastic concept, but I feel like the story itself is not fully realized.

what a beautiful story.

i liked some of these stories a lot, and some of them i didn't care about at all. but i like the author's voice a lot! someone i still dont feel like i know who she is though.

this was unexpectedly beautiful! a lot of protagonists these days are cynical, edgy and cold--think luster or vladimir. and don't get me wrong i enjoy this type of protagonist immensely, but it was refreshing to read from the perspective of a soft, delicate and hopeful woman.

really wanted to like it, but unfortunately i was pretty bored most of the way through.

3.5! fun story, lacked character development, but overall an enjoyable read.
