am wondering if this is something that would be better in print. feeling like one of those lists of things and events book.

i do hope that reading more will expose people to watch for early signs of abusive husbands in the making!

ok, i was interested in the beginning with the campers and the counsellors but now i gotta read about depressed rich wine mom (or idk what substance she’s dependent on) and im not into this.

why am i reading this

yeah i really zoned out in the stories. i dunno. maybe they were new and fresh in the 1950s? but through a modern reader’s eyes (my ears, anyways) they’re just kinda. standard. bit slow. some of the buildup is good though. that said i also have a terrible attention span.

always a little smh @ stories written in the past about “the future” where there might be newfangled tech or cultural stuff but the gender dynamics stay the same lol

tf is this routine, you’re telling me that these kids are out doing outdoor activities all day in the summer and also swimming in the lake but they only have MORNING showers??? unacceptable. disgusting.

maybe i would’ve gotten more out of this if i read it in print and concentrated lol. or if i had to read it for a class for smth idk. well that’s what happens when you listen to proto-genre anything.

unfortunately this is one of those books/stories where i know the twist. so seeing if the journey is still worth it…

i was gonna say this book is convincingly horny (i find lots of romance books are not) but the sex scene is … standard.

this could’ve been a banger short story if a heck of a lot was excised. or maybe an interesting atmospheric film. idk about this as a novel…
