Thrilling.

Loving this, like coming home.

I'm jumping around this book though, and loving it, even though I'm not a dog or car fan (plenty of both). The best ones to me feature children. Superb.

at one point Suzanne opens the glove compartment to reveal many credit cards. Credit cards? In 1969? Maybe in USA, they certainly weren't around until late 70s here..

read the first two stories: pretty damn good! Impressed.

loving it. 'I saw William Carlos Williams beside me, wearing enormous glasses, inspecting the vagina of a miniature woman lying on a napkin on the bar.. the poet Zvorsky conducting an imaginary orchestra; Ezra Pound hanging in a cage in the corner and Garcia Lorca tossing him peanuts, which he accepted gleefully.

it's like coming home, reading this, immediately gripping and immersive and true

sort of, not reading it in order,not sure if it's my thing..

and only up to 1970! This is fucking brilliant.

struggled at first with these stories, but now in a sweet run of beautiful and sharp pieces.

great, taking me back to 1973, when I was almost the same age as the protagonist - he's 15, i was 18. A beautiful, meticulous, sensitive evocation of small town Britain at that time.

lots of fun! Really enjoying the American poet in Spain, getting stoned and half understanding people..
